Sigma Theta Psi Kappa Chapter sisters take great pride in being involved in our community. We actively search for opportunities to give back and make our world a better place. Some community outreach projects we have had the honor of participating in are canned food drives, environmental restoration projects, beach clean ups, and much more.

We are invested in women's issues and had the honor of co-hosting and sponsoring the Santa Barbara International Women's Festival that aims to celebrate and honor the spirit, achievements, and joy of being women. Kappa Chapter also collaborates with other student organizations such as the UCSB Women's Center and hosts workshops on women's issues.
​
Sisters are also dedicated to our national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness. Our national beneficiary is the Young Survival Coalition. We participate in breast cancer walks, fundraising for research and a cure, women's health workshops, breast cancer awareness workshops, etc. all to raise awareness and fight against breast cancer!

Environmental Restorations​​

Our sisters enjoy giving back to our community by participating in projects that aim to keep Santa Barbara beautiful. Tree planting, among other restoration projects, is one way we give back to the Gaucho community and the earth, our global community. Sisters also enjoy the quality experiences gained and bonds strengthened through service.
Community Involvement
International Women's Festival

We co-hosted and volunteered at the 2012 Santa Barbara International Women's Festival. It provided a chance to network with strong, ambitious women and give back to our community. ​
Women of Color Week Workshop
​
We hosted a workshop on media perceptions of women and the effects it has on society and women's health. This workshop was in collaboration with the UCSB Women's Center's Women of Color Week. It gave us a chance to give back to our fellow Gauchos.
Making Strides
Breast Cancer Walk
​
Kappa chapter participates in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in support of our national philanthropy, breast cancer awareness. It's a chance to bond with our sisters as we unite to fight against breast cancer!​
